Adele publishes photo in bikini and is accused of cultural appropriation

Adele shared a photograph in Instagram in which she wears a bikini with the Jamaican flag pattern and shows a different hairstyle, known as Bantu knots, usually worn by women of African descent, and infuriated some fans, who accuse her of cultural appropriation.

The British artist did not react to the criticism, but the legend of the image reads: “Happy what would be the carnival of Notting Hill, my dear London GBJM [Great Britain Jamaica]”.

“I’m Jamaican and I don’t appreciate this. The bikini and carnival feathers are fine, the hair was a bit too far for me,” wrote one fan in the comments, “it’s a shame that other Jamaicans aren’t bothered but there are so many of us who are still colonized in our heads.
